father's day at steelhead diner
Steelhead
Diner helps = steelhead in Hood Canal!
Sustainability is always on the minds of Steelhead Diner owners
Kevin and Terresa Davis. As supporters of
Long Live the Kings (LLTK)
a Seattle non-profit whose mission is to restore wild salmon and
help provide sustainable fisheries in the Pacific Northwest, Kevin
and Terresa are pleased that LLTK is coordinating the Hood Canal
Steelhead Project.
Kevin has a particularly strong belief in the importance of the
Steelhead Project. He wants to see the species come back to its
former numbers and become self-sustaining. He is also an avid
catch-and-release fly fisherman and loves the sport.
Bringing attention to and supporting LLTK and the steelhead
project is the Davis’ goal for Father’s Day. “This is not about us,”
explains Kevin. “It’s about ensuring that these fish survive. We’ll
serve our regular menu during regular brunch hours and 25% of the
proceeds from the day will go to LLTK.”
Fly-tiers Steve Brocco, Glenn Wilson and Rockwell Hammond,
members of the Washington Flyfishers Association, will be on hand to
talk to young and old fishermen, demonstrate fly-tying techniques
and share some secrets about the best places to go fishing in the
Northwest.
To add more fun, they’ll have a raffle (both online and at
Steelhead Diner on Father’s Day) with great fly fishing items
donated by Cabela’s. If you’re looking to add to your stash or start
fishing, this is for you—fly-tying materials, tools, tackle, gear.
In addition, LLTK will donate a full set of their attire, something
you can wear with pride. Photos, descriptions and the raffle entry
form are on the LLTK site now.
Seattle DINING! (www.seattledining.com) will have a fun online
contest starting mid-May with the winning name being drawn on June
