Description

Hearty hamburger supreme casserole delivers comfort and nostalgia on a single plate. Savory ground beef, melted cheese, and crisp vegetables combine for a satisfying meal families will crave.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups pasta (elbow or rotini)
  • 1 can (10.75 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Warm the oven to 350F (175C) to prepare for baking the casserole.
  2. Cook pasta according to package instructions, then drain thoroughly and set aside.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium temperature and brown the ground beef until no pink remains.
  4. Add diced onion and bell pepper to the beef, sautéing until vegetables become tender and translucent.
  5. Season the meat mixture with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper, stirring to distribute evenly.
  6. Pour cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, and Parmesan cheese into the skillet, mixing until ingredients create a smooth, creamy sauce.
  7. Gently incorporate the cooked pasta into the meat sauce, ensuring even coating.
  8. Fold in half of the cheddar cheese, blending smoothly into the mixture.
  9. Transfer the entire mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading evenly.
  10. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese across the top of the casserole.
  11. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the casserole becomes bubbly and the cheese melts completely.
  12. Remove from oven and allow to rest for 5-10 minutes before serving to help set the dish.

Notes

  • Boost protein content by adding diced cooked bacon or ham to the ground beef mixture for extra flavor and texture.
  • Customize for gluten-sensitive diets by using gluten-free pasta and cream of mushroom soup alternatives.
  • Make it vegetarian by substituting ground beef with plant-based crumbles or lentils, maintaining the creamy casserole’s hearty profile.
  • Prep ahead by assembling the casserole earlier and refrigerating, then bake when ready to serve for convenient meal planning.
